Originally from Massachusetts, Michael moved to Colorado in 1987 for college.  He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder, School of Journalism, in 1991 and then pursued a legal career.  Michael spent two years clerking for a major law firm in New York City before receiving his Juris Doctorate degree from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 1996.

After graduating from law school and returning to Colorado, Michael assumed a general counsel role for a real estate construction and development firm where he obtained valuable experience in a wide array of real estate and business transactions. In 2001, he started his own legal practice and joined the Sussex Law Group in 2012.

Michael’s practice focuses on counseling his clients on a wide variety of commercial and residential real estate and business matters, including purchase and sale transactions, common interest community law documents and issues, condominiums, multi-family and commercial planned developments, covenants, party wall agreements, financing deals, construction and land use agreements, landlord and tenant lease representation, title issues, subdivisions, lien law, foreclosures, transactional due diligence, business and entity formation, and related civil litigation matters. He also handles liquor licensing applications and ancillary matters for his hospitality industry clients.
